Conch Goes Upscale

As you know, the Island Insider loves all things conch, so it was with great pride that we saw an article on our very own Conch Farm in the latest issue of the Robb Report, that glossy, only-for-the-super-rich publication that normally writes about mega-yachts and Ferraris. But there amongst all the reviews of the latest executive high tech gadgets, super fast sports cars and luxury vacation destinations (TCI included!), was a great article on the world’s only conch farm and its visionary founder Chuck Hesse.

The Conch Farm is a great place to visit when you come to TCI - and this year they are expanding to Grand Turk from their original base in Providenciales - and conch is a great food to eat anywhere you can find it. Which is partly the point of the article: Conch is becoming a much desired delicacy at gourmet restaurants, thanks in large part to the Conch Farm marketing it around the world. So next time you’re in a fancy restaurant, ask ‘em if they have any conch on the appetizer menu.

Pick up the February issue of The Robb Report and go right to Page 64 to read all about the high-brow conch. Or to see the article online, go to to the press room on the Tourist Board web site (click here).
