DELTA AIR LINES MEETS RISING DEMAND FOR FLIGHTS FROM ATLANTA TO TURKS & CAICOS THIS WINTER
September 22, 2008
Additional Saturday Service Allows Travelers to the Caribbean More Flexibility, Beginning December 20
TURKS AND CAICOS, BWI (Sept. 22, 2008)—Turks & Caicos Islands, a burgeoning luxury Caribbean destination, today announced that Delta Air Lines plans to add an additional flight from Atlanta (ATL) to Providenciales (PLS), also known as “Provo.”  Beginning Dec. 20, 2008, flying between Atlanta and the Islands will be a breeze as Delta is offering a second Saturday flight.

“The additional flight from Atlanta to Provo will allow travelers more opportunity to visit Turks & Caicos this winter,” said Ralph Higgs, director of tourism, marketing at the Turks & Caicos Tourist Board.  “At a time when most airlines are adjusting schedules, we are very pleased that Delta recognizes Turks & Caicos as a premier destination in high demand among travelers who want to experience a simple and elegant retreat to escape the stress of everyday life.”

Turks & Caicos has been admired by travelers from around the world for its award-winning shoreline Grace Bay Beach, which was voted “World’s Best Beach” by World Travel Awards and Conde Nast Traveler.  The Islands are also known for its turquoise waters boasting the third largest coral reef system in the world and an array of ocean activities from kayaking to snorkeling.  Furthermore, guests can indulge in Caribbean luxury at the Islands’ renowned spas and exclusive fine dining establishments.

With Delta’s original Saturday flight from Atlanta to Provo departing at 10 a.m. and returning at 1:40 p.m. and the new flight leaving Atlanta at 11:20 a.m., travelers coming from other cities will have a greater opportunity to connect.  Upon their return, guests will have the chance to spend an extra half day relaxing on the Islands’ white sandy beaches since Delta’s second flight does not depart Provo until at 6:19 p.m.
